Creating a desktop shortcut

Executing teamspeak from a shortcut so that it connects straight to a server can be done with the following two methods.

Command Line Parameters

Teamspeak can be executed using command line parameters as follows.

"PATH" -server server.address.com/Loginname=LoginName?Password=Password?Nickname=Nickname?Channel=ChannelName?Channelpassword=ChannelPassword?SubChannel=Subchannel

where "PATH" is the path to the Teamspeak executable and all parameters are optional.

Teamspeak URL

Another way is to create a weblink/URL as per:

teamspeak://server.address.com/Loginname=LoginName?Password=Password?Nickname=Nickname?Channel=ChannelName?Channelpassword=ChannelPassword?SubChannel=Subchannel

Teamspeak Overlay

Teamspeak overlay is a program that, like fraps, draws on top of a game's overlay. Functionally it tells user while in a game, the FPS, when the user is speaking in teamspeak, who is currently speaking and what channel the user is connected.

Even for those of us that are lucky enough to have more than one screen it is still very useful as you cannot stop the channel window from scrolling on new events in teamspeak.

Troubleshooting

When using teamspeak overlay the key points to take note of are

  • In options use alternate DirectX compatibility mode
  • Set the teamspeak username
  • Click Enable
  • Click HIDE!!! and not the X.
  • Start the game
