Problem

Windows 2000 update keeps reminding you that the KB832483 update is ready to install even though you have installed it

Solution

  1. Install the MDAC 2.8 (the thing the fix is trying to patch)from here or here and follow the link download link if you do not wish to validate your version of Windows 2000.
  2. Reboot your PC as required.
  3. Install the KB832483 update for the final time when asked.
