List of known bugs
The list is not all encompassing but here are the major ones.
- Occasional and unwavering lag even on lan for a specific client.
- Seeing people through a wall that their character is pressing up against.
- Unfiltered textures.
- Unpredictable weapon effects (crazy grenades, non-lethal head shots from rifle hits).
- Climbing nothing (sometimes the fall will cause death).
- Reloading empty magazines.
Rogue Spear not running due to missing eax.dll
This will occur obviously when the game cannot find this dll. The usual error message is "This application has failed to start because EAX.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem."
Solution
A missing eax.dll is not a driver issue, the dll is installed with the "RGE205UK.EXE" patch. Half way through the patch a command prompt will pop up, this may need to be closed off manually, and then the EAX installer will install the dll automatically.
The installer can be flakey and sometimes skip the step, just keep trying.
Graphics messed up and slow
If graphics that are either slow, glitching with plenty of artifacts and looking like software render, make sure the system is actually setup for Direct3D properly.
Solution
- Reinstall graphics drivers.
- Turn on hardware acceleration to full for ALL display adapters, Display Properties->Advanced->Troubleshoot->Hardware Acceleration.
- Test Direct3D, Start->Run...->"dxdiag"->Direct3D
- Make sure Rogue Spear has the proper device selected by using RSConfig.exe in the Rogue Spear directory.
