Flush DNS in Windows is useful if windows has somehow decided to really screw up your DNS cache on your local machine. This can manifest itself from long resolve times to not finding IPs at all.
A tell tale sign is if a ping is performed to a site that is known to exist and have been spat back
Ping request could not find host www.google.com. Please check the name and try again.
Solution
Fire up a command prompt and the following command will flush it all out.
ipconfig /flushdns
