Command line parameters
BF2142 has a few useful command line parameters under it's belt. The following command line paramaters should be used every time the game is started.
bf2142.exe +menu 1 +fullscreen 1
Widescreen/Custom resolutions
To select a custom resolution ie widescreen, command line parameters can be modified to include the options +szx x resolution and +szy y resolution eg.
bf2142.exe +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 1024
For widescreen resolutions, substitute +fullscreen with +widescreen to get an appropriate field of view increase (although it doesn't work it makes me feel good inside).
bf2142.exe +menu 1 +widescreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 800
Dumping back to desktop after black screen
At some point BF2142 just made the screen black then dumped me to the desktop if I tried running widescreen resolutions. I tried a lot but the what got it going again was resinstalling the game from scratch.

Full Image
Creating the image with Alcohol 120%
If you have the dvd you need to use a full disc image of the original taken with Alcohol 120% (tested with version 1.9.6 Build 4719).
Mounting
Alcohol 120%
Just mount it, nothing special, just works.
Daemon Tools
Enable RMPS emulation and mount the image.
Mini-image
At this stage you cannot make a mini-image of the dvd.
Localisation files
Localisation files improve the verbosity of the games messages. Some of use take a long time to get used to the names and might want to know what a Rouche is while in battle (EU Mounted Railgun). Perhaps you want to know what weapon you were teamkilled with to see wether or not to punish.
The best custom localisation files so far are produced by Take Productions.
Drop the strings.csv file into your bf2142/mods/bf2142/localization/ directory.
